According to statistics released by Wujiang Customs at a press conference held on Dec. 16, Wujiang’s foreign trade in the first 11 months of this year totaled 160.21 billion yuan, an increase of 8.3% over the same period last year (similarly hereinafter). The district’s exports increased by 9.9% to 124.45 billion yuan, while its imports rose by 2.9% to 35.76 billion yuan.
From January to November, Wujiang’s import and export volume for general trade and for bonded logistics grew by 12.9% and 19.9% to 82.09 billion yuan and 39.61 billion yuan, accounting for 51.2% and 24.7% of the district’s total, respectively. Meanwhile, the imports and exports of processing trade were 37.98 billion yuan, decreasing by 9.2%, accounting for 23.7% of the district’s total.
In the first 11 months, the number of Wujiang enterprises involved in foreign trade reached 3,799. Among them, there were 3,169 private enterprises, 409 more than the same period last year, the foreign trade volume of which was 96.06 billion yuan, up by 16.5%, accounting for 60% of the district’s total, a growth of 4.2%. And the import and export value of foreign-invested enterprises was 64.15 billion yuan, down 2%, accounting for 40% of the district’s total.
In the January-December period, Wujiang conducted trade with 146 of the 154 Belt and Road partner countries and witnessed trade growth with 96 of them. Its imports and exports with countries jointly building the Belt and Road reached 70.15 billion yuan, up by 17.4%, accounting for 43.8% of the district’s total, 3.4 percentage points higher than the same period last year, which helped generate 84.7 percentage points of growth for the district’s foreign trade. The district’s trade with the ASEAN and South Korea increased by 24.4% and 22.3% to reach 27.48 billion yuan and 7.92 billion yuan, respectively. During this period, Wujiang’s imports and exports to the United States was 16.79 billion yuan, an increase of 7.4%, accounting for 10.5% of the district’s total. Its trade with China’s Taiwan region was 10.83 billion yuan, up by 6.1%, accounting for 6.8% of the district’s total. And imports and exports to the EU and Japan were 23.54 billion yuan and 12.09 billion yuan, down 9.1% and 3.9%, accounting for 14.7% and 7.5% of the district’s total, respectively.
According to the spokesman of Wujiang Customs, the figures reflected a continuous warming trend in Wujiang’s foreign trade, the growth rate of which increased from 7% in September to 8.2% in October and then to 8.3% in November. The import and export value and the export value have maintained positive year-on-year growth for 7 consecutive months.
